Fundraising for The American Cancer Society
TSA’s national service project is the American Cancer Society – the official sponsor of birthdays. The ACS is an organization that helps fund cancer research, awareness, and patient services. With the help of generous donations and volunteers, the organization has been improving the lives of those affected by cancer for over 100 years.
Chapters all over the country raise money during the school year through fundraisers for the ACS. So how can your chapter help?
Relay For Life
Relay for Life is a fundraising walk for the American Cancer Society where participants and teams celebrate progress in the fight against cancer and raise money and awareness. Teams fundraise in the months before the event and then camp out overnight around a track, taking turns walking laps. The event is filled with fun and games, food and drink, and events that honor those affected by cancer. Organize a Relay for Life at your school as a family-friendly community event to help fight back against cancer.
Benefit Games
Whether you’re playing basketball, volleyball, Tchoukball, or kickball, everybody loves a good friendly competition. Organize a tournament at your school and ask for donations as an admission fee. You can even plan a student vs. faculty game! Food and beverage sales, halftime events, and other booths can also be used to encourage donations. To raise awareness for the ACS and their mission, you can also set up a table with information regarding the organization.
Embrace Technology!
As the Technology Student Association, we can use our love of STEM to encourage donations for the ACS. Plan a video game tournament, hackathon, or even your own version of the TSA VEX robotics competition at your school! Request donations as admission charges and throughout the event.
