2017 – 2018 State Officers

President: Seth Britton

Seth Britton

Hi New Jersey TSA! I am Seth Britton, your State President. I am currently a Senior at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology on Sandy Hook. This will be my fourth year in TSA purely because my Middle School did not participate in this great organization! I was able to attend Nationals in Nashville last year because of Engineering Design and Orlando this year with the former State Officer team. In Orlando, we met with several other state delegations who have all given us amazing ideas on how to improve NJ TSA. TSA has quickly earned a place close to my heart, and I’m ready to give everything I have for our state! Outside of TSA, I have played piano for 11 years and have taught piano for the past few months. I also row and coach at Navesink River Rowing, a Club Crew Team in Red Bank. Lastly, I’m a huge Pop Culture Nerd, so don’t be afraid to strike up a conversation with me about music, movies, or anything like that. I am so excited for this year, so let’s make it a good one!

 Vice-President: Darren Schachter

Darren Schachter

Hi New Jersey TSA! My name is Darren Schachter and I am your New Jersey TSA Vice President. I am a senior at High Technology High School, and this is my fourth year in TSA. Over the past three years, I have competed and placed in Technology Bowl, Technical Sketching and Application, Coding, and VEX Robotics at both the state and national conferences. Along with TSA, I am also a member of my school’s Robotics and Coding Club and VEX robotics team. Some of my interests include physics, robotics, programming, and math. Although this is my last year as a student in TSA, I am sure that it will be the best one yet!

Treasurer: Jessica Kaiser

Jessica Kaiser

Hello New Jersey TSA! My name is Jessica Kaiser and I am currently a junior at Freehold Township High School. I am your 2017-2018 NJ TSA State Treasurer, and this is my sixth year within the organization. When I had first joined in middle school, I had little knowledge of what STEM even stood for. Within that year I was challenged not only in the state and national competitions, but also within the activities of my very own chapter. Nothing was more rewarding or invigorating than pushing the boundaries of my own thinking and being able to create a project that I was truly proud of. Over the years, I have attended three national and five state competitions. I have placed in a plethora of both national and state events, in which I have discovered many new interests. TSA has played a large part in expanding not only my interests but also skills within the STEM field. Also, this organization has inspired me to further pursue my STEM interests in college. Beyond TSA, I am involved in softball, marching band, and concert band. While TSA, school, and softball ease my competitive edge, my music passion is what allows me to destress and express myself in a unique way. As your NJ TSA State Treasurer, I am eager to make this year great for the organization!

Sergeant-At-Arms: Pareena Patel

Pareena Patel

Hi New Jersey TSA! I am Pareena Patel, your State Sergeant-at-Arms. I am currently a Senior at Howell High School. This will be my seventh year in TSA. I was able to attend Nationals four times and look forward to being able to integrate my experiences into NJTSA! Outside of TSA, I play field hockey, guitar, and love Robotics! TSA is my passion and I hope to make this year a great one!

Reporter: Taylor Kohnow

Taylor Kohnow

Hello NJ TSA! I’m Taylor Kohnow and I am your New Jersey State Reporter for the 2017-18 school year! I am currently a Senior at Clearview Regional High School. This is my third year in TSA and I am so happy I get to spend my last year as a state officer. I’ve competed in various competitions such as children’s stories and engineering design at both the state and national level. I participate in many clubs at my school focusing on community service and educating people in my community about current events at our school. I also take part in my school FTC team and enjoy furthering my technology education any chance I get. I look forward to seeing you all at TSA events!

Historian: Meghan Moir

Meghan Moir

Hi NJ TSA! I am Meghan Moir and currently a Senior at Howell High School. This will be my 7th year in TSA and I am very excited to be your State Historian! I have attended 6 national conferences competing and placing in various events. Other than TSA I have played travel soccer for 13 years now and have ran track for the past 7 years. I will continue both sports in college along with majoring in Biology.  I look forward to another exciting year on the NJ TSA State board  and can’t wait to see what our organization accomplishes!

Parliamentarian: Regan Riehl

Regan Riehl

My name is Regan Riehl, and I am your New Jersey TSA State Parliamentarian. I am currently a sophomore at Colts Neck High School, and I have been in TSA since sixth grade. I have attended four state and national conferences, where I have placed in events including Prepared Presentation, Challenging Technology Issues and Children’s Stories. I have also competed in TEAMS, where my chapter won first place in the nation!  I am a member of the Technology Honors Society and a recipient of the Gold Award. TSA has played a pivotal role in my life, and I am so grateful to be a part of such an incredible organization filled with so many inspirational people. Besides TSA, I am enrolled in my high school’s Law and Public Service Learning Center. In my spare time, I am an active member in my school’s Junior Statesman Alliance, Model UN and Mock Trial. I also perform in school and community theater. I am confident that, together, we can celebrate another successful year in TSA.
