William P. Elrod Scholarship
Now is the time for promising TSA members to apply for the William P. Elrod Scholarship. As a result of increased endowments to this scholarship fund, this year’s recipient will receive $3,500 — a seven-fold increase over previous years’ awards.
Named in memory of William P. Elrod — the founding father of TSA with longstanding leadership and involvement –the scholarship is awarded each year to a TSA student member. Bill was the chapter advisor of Madison High School TSA in Madison, Kansas; a previous Kansas TSA state advisor; a Kansas TSA, Inc. corporate member; a former member of the TSA, Inc. Board of Directors; and a former TSA national advisor and national assistant advisor.
Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA or better; can be college or career/technical school-bound; or be a TSA alumnus enrolled in an undergraduate program or in a career/technical school.
The scholarship is awarded for outstanding service in the field of technology to a TSA student who is college, university or career and technical school bound and who is in good academic standing, or to a TSA alumnus/a currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or a career and technical school. Private tax deductible donations are accepted for this fund.
The awards committee of the TSA board of directors approves the winner of the scholarship from among the field of applicants. The recipient of the scholarship is announced at the national TSA conference each year. Recipients have eighteen months in which to expend all funds of the scholarship. In the event that no qualified recipients are available, the funds may be carried over until such time as they may be awarded.
