Approximately 200 students attended the 2009 Fall Leadership Conference at The College of New Jersey. James Coleman, Jr. was this year’s Keynote Speaker and Guest of Honor. James was also the Keynote Speaker at the 2009 National TSA Conference in Denver, CO. Students participated in a design challenge based on the popular film, “The Sandlot,” where they designed and constructed a device for retrieving a baseball from behind a fence, which they could only see through via a few peep holes. The device was built using limited materials and had to retrieve the ball before waking the neighborhood dog, which was simulated with a fur-covered, remote-controlled car.
