TEAMS – Engineering the Tools of Innovation

TEAMS – Engineering the Tools of Innovation

From its inception two years ago, TSA TEAMS has gained increased interest among students across the country and has become an extremely popular event with many participating groups! TEAMS, which stands for Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science, is an annual competition, offered at both the middle school and high school levels. Based on the National Academy of Engineering Grand Challenges, TEAMS is designed to lead students to dive deep into engineering, discovering their passion and potential.

As an all-encompassing one-day engineering event, TEAMS has students tackle real-world problems by applying science and mathematics skills in creative and practical ways. With essay writing and a design challenge, students are pushed to not only think critically to assess the scenarios and methodically analyze possible solutions, but also to bring all of their knowledge together to utilize a thorough approach and look at the bigger picture.

Each year focuses on a different theme within the STEM field. This year’s theme, “Engineering the Tools of Innovation,” will prompt students to consider and explore the various tools engineers use in areas such as manufacturing, structural design, and even space exploration.

TSA TEAMS allows for an integrated STEM learning experience, and really sparks students to take a new, unique look at engineering!
